Srilankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of Oneworld airline alliance, has decided to add three more south Indian cities – Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Coimbatore – to its network from July this year.

Accordingly, the flight will be operational from the three cities from July 8. The flight will leave Hyderabad at 9.50 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and reach Colombo at 11.45 a.m. The Colombo-bound flight will leave from Visakhapatnam at 10.10 a.m. on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and reach the destination at 12.15 p.m. while the flight from Coimbatore will depart at 3.35 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday and reach Colombo at 4.45 p.m.

The new services are expected to meet the demand of the passengers of the two countries who were looking for seamless connections across the region for work and leisure purposes. The new routes will be serviced by Airbus 320/321 aircraft featuring an array of bespoke services and in-flight entertainment.

Srilankan Airlines chief commercial officer Siva Ramachandran said introduction of new flights was part of continuing strategic focus of the airline to strengthen across more cities.

The airline has planned to introduce four additional flight frequencies to its daily services from Delhi and Mumbai from July while the introduction of new routes and increase in frequency would see the airline operating over 120 flights a week to 14 cities, thus becoming the carrier serving the highest number of points in India, according to a press release.
