The police arrested two persons in a cheating case registered against the management of Sri Vasavi Junior College at Hasthinapuram.

While principal-cum-correspondent V. Seenaiah (34) and partner B. Shyam Sundar Reddy (38) were arrested, another partner G. Kapil Goud (30) was absconding, the police said. The college was registered with the name Varun Junior College in Suryapet. In 2016-17, they changed the name to Sri Vasavi and shifted it to Vanasthalipuram. However, they failed to secure permission from the Board of Intermediate Education for the same. Keeping students in dark, they continued admissions, conducted classes and collected examination fee.

However, the BIE denied to issue hall tickets to the students as its management failed to comply with the procedures. For no fault of theirs, 256 students of the college were not allowed to appear for the exams.
