S.R. Sankaran Memorial Lecture on Nov. 7

To be delivered by Martin Macwan, a Dalit human rights activist

The Centre for Dalit Studies (CDS) is organising the 7th S.R. Sankaran Memorial Lecture on November 10 at Ravindra Bharathi on ‘Is separate electorate a better option to caste-based political reservations’.

It would be delivered by Martin Macwan, a Dalit human rights activist from Gujarat, who is also Robert J. Kennedy awardee and Director of Dalit Shakti Kendram. Ajay Mishra, Special Chief Secretary, SC Development, and Ramachandra Murthy, editorial director, Sakshi Media Group, would be the guests of honour, said Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Chairman of CDS. K. Lalitha, democratic writer and secretary, Anveshi, would present Lakshmi Venugopal Award to C. Asha, topper in class 10 for 2016-17 among the girl students who studied in government social welfare girls’ schools in Telangana.

S.R. Sankaran was an IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre who had earned high reputation as an administrator with integrity. He had dedicated his life for the service of the poor and marginalised communities.
