‘Spurned’ by lady love’s kin, engineer ends life

August 23, 2013 11:43 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:49 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A civil engineer committed suicide by hanging at his hostel room in Punjagutta on Friday as he was depressed after his girlfriend’s family refused his proposal to marry her, police said.

A suicide note, purportedly written by Pavan Kumar (35), was recovered from his room in which he requested his family to forgive him for taking the drastic step.

Pavan, of Bheemavaram in West Godavari district, fell in love with a girl of his native place. But the girl’s parents refused, arranging her engagement with another person instead.

“He had gone into depression. Unable to cope up with it, he ended his life when his roommates were away,” police said.
