Auxiliary booths will be set up in all the constituencies falling under the GHMC jurisdiction where the number of voters cross the 1,600 mark. Shift of polling stations was also proposed for buildings whose character had changed completely in recent times, GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO), Somesh Kumar said on Thursday.

At a meeting with representatives of political parties, Mr. Kumar said the list of proposed shifting of polling stations would be sent to the Election Commission for a final decision and sought suggestions from them.

The Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would make a house-to-house visit and hand over the voters’ slips, he told the meeting, attended by District Collector and Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency returning officer, M.K.Meena and others. For those with complaints and grievances, a round-the-clock call centre (Ph. 21111111) would be available.

Responding to a request for provision of a separate line for women clad in a veil, Mr. Meena said the ECI has responded positively. Help desks would be provided at each polling station to guide voters and the administration was arranging awareness programmes to increase the polling percentage at least by 15 per cent more than that of the previous elections.

Representatives of BSP, CPI, CPI(M), Indian National Congress and Telugu Desam Party participated in the meeting and representatives of AIMIM as special invitees were present.

Later in the day, at a meeting with ROs and police officials, Mr. Kumar sought completion of the vulnerability mapping by Monday evening and said the GHMC was developing an IT Tool to put up all the formats and reports online. Existing 24x7 call centre for grievance redressal would be utilised for election related issues also and an election related complaint monitoring system would start functioning in next few days, he said.

The officials were asked to inspect all the counting halls and strong rooms jointly and send a compliance report.
