Sixteen villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will get potable water thanks to an initiative started by Synchrony Financial, a consumer financial services company. The water will be beneficial for 32,000 people living in water-scarce areas.
The project will be executed in consultation and agreement with both the State governments under a Public Private Partnership venture. As per agreement signed water treatment plants will be set up to de-silt water and make it safe for consumption.
Out of the treatment plants eight are in Telangana and the rest in AP. In Telangana, villages include Ghatikal, Isthalapuram, Midthanapally, Patha Suryapet, Kuppireddy Gudem, Ramaram, Gumpula, Tangillagudem and Suryapet. Minnekallu, Velamuripadu, Patha Maguluru, Sajjapuram, Makkenavaripalem, Addanki Municipality in Prakasham District and Dandamudi, Kavuru in Guntur district. Speaking at the event, Kurt Grossheim, Chief Operating Officer of Synchrony Financial said the plants will be set up in a phased manner.
“There is lot of interest from both the governments on the project as it provides people one of the basic necessities pure drinking water. With our support the treatment plants will run smoothly providing people with water regularly,” Mr. Grossheim said. “The initiative to set up water treatment plants is a positive step towards improving health of well-being of villages. We encourage our employees to volunteer their time to many community projects that support local needs,” said Faisal Uddin, Business leader-India, Synchrony Financial.
The company had started another social work initiative, Sychrony Families that work, the previous year. Sychrony focused on safe and stable housing for homeless families along with child care for such families in this project.
