The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing cases related to gangster Nayeem revealed on Monday that the investigation is nearing completion. The SIT has booked over 200 cases during the year-long investigation.

Nagi Reddy, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, who is in-charge of the investigation, informed that 128 people were arrested while 109 accused were taken into custody for investigation. Nearly 900 witnesses were examined by the SIT. The case has also seen the DGP suspend five police officers while 20 other officers were pulled up for their alleged link with the deceased gangster.

“We do not expect more names of police officials to come up. We are working on putting together the documentary evidence and will wait for the court to verify them through forensic science laboratory,” Mr. Reddy said.
