The management of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has decided to give the work of setting up its new 800 MW super critical thermal power plant in Mancherial district with ₹ 5,817 crore, as the second phase of its existing 2 x 600 MW project, to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on nomination basis.
It is BHEL that had executed the existing thermal power project of Singareni with fabrication and installation of boilers, turbines and generators for both the units of 600 MW each. The board of SCCL headed by its Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar which met here on Monday decided to give the work on nomination basis to BHEL following the approval of the detail project report submitted by the company recently. The State Government suggested to SCCL to give work to BHEL keeping in mind its reputation in executing such projects in time. It may be recalled that BHEL has also bagged the work of setting up 5 x 800 MW super critical thermal power plant of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Ltd (TSGenco) at Dameracherla in Nalgonda district. It is also executing two other power projects of Genco 4x270 MW project at Manuguru and 800 MW plant as part of seventh unit of Kothagudem Thermal Power Station.According to Singareni officials, BHEL would take up work on the new unit once the process of tenders is over.
One-time compensation
The Singareni board also decided on one-time compensation of ₹ 25 lakh or ₹ 25,000 as monthly monetary compensation to medically unfit employees for forgoing employment, extension of corporate medical care to parents of employees and grant of childcare leave to women employees. It has also cleared payment of performance linked incentives to officers of SCCL for 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The one-time settlement for medically unfit employees in lieu of employment to their family members on compassionate grounds has been increased to ₹ 25 lakh by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao recently from ₹ 12.5 lakh being given from March 2015. Till then it was only ₹ 5 lakh. Similarly, the Chief Minister has increased the monthly monetary compensation to ₹ 25,000 from ₹ 15,712 to such cases.
