Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said the Telangana Government would take all steps to develop Shilparamams in all places of tourist interest in the new State.

Mr. Rao, who inaugurated the 19 edition of All India Handicrafts Mela at Shilparamam here on Monday, said his government was committed to promoting art and culture. Towards this end, the government would ensure similar art and culture centres came up in all districts, besides in places of tourist interest.

The Chief Minister said the government was committed to bringing back the old glory of Shilparamam in Madhapur, and expressed his anguish at the concrete structures around the place.

“Our dream is make this Shilaparamam, a world-class facility to attract tourists,” he said, adding that steps would be take to prevent middlemen from fleecing artisans and those making handicrafts.

He directed officials to chalk out an action plan to hold round-the-year programmes at Shilparamam.
