: A sixth standard student, staying at a private school hostel at S.R. Nagar was molested by a 63-year-old assistant working there on Sunday night, the police said on Monday.
The 11-year-old girl was admitted to Good Samaritan school hostel in Vengal Rao Nagar by her father, working as a make-up artist in Tollywood, after his wife got separated from him a year ago. The girl was going from one block in the hostel, where evening study hours were conducted, to her room around 8 p.m. when the office assistant, Hari Gopal, told her that her aunt had come to see her. He led her to a room in the office and bolted the room from inside after the unsuspecting girl walked inside. Even as the kid resisted, the old man undressed and groped her. He gagged the girl when she tried to scream. Threatening her not to reveal the matter to anyone, the old man left the place.
The student returned to her room. She complained to her father the next morning about the assault when he came to see her. “Under the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2013, the office assistant’s action amounted to rape,” the S.R. Nagar Inspector G.V. Ramana Goud said.
A case under section 376, clause (ii) (f and i) of Criminal Law Amendment Act and section 5 (f and m) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 was registered against Gopal.
