Satavahana passengers spend tense moments

Around 4.30 p.m. passengers detect smoke beneath the sleeper coaches' wheels

February 02, 2012 01:08 pm | Updated 01:08 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Tension gripped passengers travelling in Satavahana Express on Wednesday after smoke emanated from under the sleeper coaches at Moula Ali station.

The Vijayawada-bound Satavahana Express departed from Secunderabad station at 4.15 p.m. and when it reached Moula Ali around 4.30 p.m., passengers detected smoke beneath the sleeper coaches' wheels.

Authorities immediately stopped the train and doused the smoke that emanated due to brake-binding. The problem was fixed within minutes and the train reached Vijayawada at 9.50 p.m, 15 minutes behind schedule. There were no injuries to any passengers in the incident, claimed SCR spokesperson.
