On Thursday morning, tennis star Sania Mirza kept aside her racket and took up the broom. As part of the nationwide Swachch Bharat campaign, the tennis ace took to cleaning up the streets near Judges Colony in Jubilee Hills.

Accompanied by her sister Anam Mirza and father Imran Mirza and a group of like-minded people, Sania went around the stretch cleaning up the path-ways and removing trash on the wayside to express her solidarity for the campaign. “I have been challenged by Anil Ambani to keep the movement going. This, I feel, is the way to contribute to enhancing the image and prestige of our great country,” Sania remarked.

The brand ambassador of Telangana State also nominated film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, squash player Deepika Pallikal, film personality Sajid Khan, Telangana Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K.T. Rama Rao, shuttler P.V. Sindhu and ace shooter Abhinav Bhindra for the link to keep moving forward.

“It has been a wonderful experience and feel proud to be part of it,” the Grand Slam winner said.
