Minister reviews Anganwadi centres

Taking a serious note of reports about irregularities in Anganwadi centres, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Tummala Nageswara Rao has instructed officials to take immediate action.

He said that those who indulged in malpractices in Anganwadi centres should be sacked with immediate effect.

Mr. Nageswara Rao who held a review meeting here on Friday, said measures should be taken to streamline supply of commodities in the anganwadi centres.

Adoption panel

The rationalisation of centres should be carried out properly and vacancies if any should be filled, he told the officials.

A six member State Adoption Resources Agency Committee would be constituted to look into issues related to adoption of children, he said.

Senior citizens

A meeting would be held on October 10 to discuss concerns of senior citizens and provision of facilities for them. The State-level committee on senior citizens would also attend the meeting.

The Minister announced that a committee would be constituted soon on the situation of transgender people. The department officials should pursue with the Centre to set up recently sanctioned Sakhi centres in the new districts.

Guidelines

He directed the officials to release the guidelines soon on duties and responsibilities of newly appointed women organisers.

The meeting was attended by department senior officials Jagadeeshwar, Vijayendira Boyi and others.
