May 12, 2010 02:57 pm | Updated 02:57 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Rural Water Supply Minister P. Viswaroop has claimed that there is no drinking water problem in any village now, in spite of severe summer. This assertion comes from the Minister at a time when there are complaints everywhere about drinking water shortage.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said “all critical gaps” in supply of drinking water had been filled and hence no complaint was received by the government from anywhere about the shortage.

A huge sum of over Rs. 300 crore was made available at district level to enable Collectors to tackle problems relating to supply of drinking water. It was only on Monday that the Minister said that a sum of Rs. 39 crore was released towards rural drinking water supply.
