Over 10,000 officers and employees working in five Regional Rural Banks participated in the one-day strike on Thursday as part of all India call to press for their long-pending demands. Though the National Industrial Tribunal constituted by the Centre at the direction of Supreme Court, had pronounced an award in 1990 equating the pay scales and all service conditions on par with that of sponsor banks, the Centre had not implemented it so far. The Centre had been denying parity in service conditions, promotion rules, other allowances and particularly the pension with that of the sponsoring banks, the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana States Regional Rural Banks Employees Association said.
The Association urged the Union Government to resolve the long- pending issues of the RRBs that render services to the rural people.eom
