Among all 10 of Telangana’s districts, Ranga Reddy finds itself topping the list for most key parameters – from population to number of income tax payers, and bank account holders. It also has the highest number of households with two and four-wheelers, and air-conditioners installed.

Statistics collated during the intensive household survey carried out by the State government last year revealed that Ranga Reddy also leads the livestock report on the number of poultry birds, livestock and even swine.

Data collected by enumerators on August 19, 2014 reveals that the State is home to 1.01 crore households and 3.63 crore people respectively. Ranga Reddy district, which surrounds Hyderabad and is home to major developmental activities, emerges on top of the list with 16.56 lakh households and a population of 61.36 lakh, while Hyderabad district has 9.76 lakh households and a population of 37.94 lakh.

The economic entitlement report of the survey shows Ranga Reddy to have 2.59 lakh income-tax paying households and more than 10.09 lakh households with bank accounts while Hyderabad has 1.07 lakh IT payers and 3.54 lakh bank account holders. Even households with post-office accounts are found to be more in Ranga Reddy district (20,614) than Hyderabad (3,257). Interestingly, for households having two-wheelers, the survey shows Hyderabad to be trailing behind even Karimnagar, though the capital district records nearly three times more four-wheelers. Ranga Reddy has almost double (34,001) the ACs when compared to Hyderabad (17,652).
