Revenue officials on study tour

A team of Telangana Tehsildars Association (TGTA) is visiting Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal to study the best practices of Revenue departments and submit a report to the Government to bring in necessary changes in Telangana.

The team led by association founder president V. Lachi Reddy consists of president and Karimnagar RDO Goutham Kumar and Raja Goud and they would be accompanied by NALSAR University faculty advisor Suneel Kumar. They would tour the four states for a week from November 6.

Mr. Lachi Reddy said that there is a need to review the 112 Revenue Acts in Telangana to make them more relevant and easier for administrators and the people. He said UP has come out with a comprehensive Revenue Act last year and the all revenue related issues are brought under one department. Similarly, West Bengal has started two training institutes for revenue officials.

Odisha has made changes to the Tenancy Act apart from ensuring better rights for women. Bihar too has introduced many changes in its revenue systems and the team would study all these aspects and submit a report.
