Retired civil servant PVRK Prasad passes away

He introduced several reforms in the TTD

Retired civil servant and information adviser to former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, P. V. R. K. Prasad passed away in the early hours of Monday.

He was admitted to a corporate hospital after suffering cardiac arrest on Saturday night and he died while undergoing treatment.

The 77-year-old civil servant is survived by wife, daughter and son and his last rites were performed around 11 am.

An IAS officer of the united Andhra Pradesh cadre, Prasad held several important posts including the Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust before moving to New Delhi as adviser to Narasimha Rao.

It was under his tenure as the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams several reforms were introduced in the administration of the hill shrine making it more pilgrim friendly. He authored several books including Asalemi Jarigindante (what actually happened) wherein he revealed the intent of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao to construct the Ram Temple.

Prasad who continued as adviser to TTD for life was into spiritual activities as Chairman of the Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his AP counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana State IAS Officers and others expressed their condolences over the demise of the former bureaucrat.

Expressing shock over the sudden demise of Prasad, the Governor recalled the valuable services Prasad rendered in the united Andhra Pradesh.

He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.

The Chief Minister recalled Prasad’s services as information adviser to the former Prime Minister and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family.

TS IAS officers institute president B.P. Acharya recalled the services rendered by Prasad during his six-year stint between 1998 and 2004 in the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute and conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the IAS fraternity.
