Remuneration of contract lecturers enhanced

The government has increased the remuneration paid to the contract lecturers and part-time lecturers working in the universities as per the recommendations of the committee constituted to study the present system.

The orders released on Wednesday in this regard asked all the vice chancellors and registrars of the 11 State universities to place the recommendations in their respective Executive Councils for approval.

As per the orders remuneration of contract lecturers without NET, SLET or Ph.D or M. Tech for Engineering stream will get ₹37,800 from the present ₹21,600. There will be an yearly enhancement of 3% based on the number of years of their service.

Candidates with NET, SLET or Ph.d will get ₹43,470 and there will be 3% of enhancement.

For part-time lecturers ₹600 per period for theory classes and ₹300 per hour for practical classes will be paid for those without NET, SLET or Ph.D. Those with these qualifications will be paid ₹700 per theory class and ₹350 per hour for practical class.
