A Uganda national arrested along with four others in connection with a rave party at Banjara Hills on Saturday night, brought drugs from Goa to celebrate the weekend bash on a grand note.
Twenty-nine-year-old Donald purchased drugs from a Nigerian national Sameer alias Sam in Goa. Fourteen grams of cocaine, 10 packets of cube lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and 10 pills of micro methylene dioxy methamphetamine (MDMA) were seized after the police raided a flat on Road No.10, Banjara Hills.
City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, addressing a press conference here on Sunday, said the influence of these drugs on users could last for hours.
Donald was selling cocaine for Rs.4,500 per gram, LSD for Rs. 2,500 per gram and MDMA for Rs. 4,000 per gram. MDMA was seized first time in the city.
According to Mr. Sharma, Donald's girlfriend Shruthi Glory alias Tina (23) of Yapral, his associates -- Bandila Sailesh (24) of Bollarum, Murali Krishna Susheel (23) of Dilsukhnagar and Sakhi Subramanyam Chawla (19) of Masab Tank were also nabbed for organising the party. Sam and four others are absconding.
A resident of Sainikpuri, Donald came to India in 2006 on study visa and was supplying drugs to customers.
The central crime station (CCS) police have earlier arrested him in a similar case in 2010. Forty-nine people, including 18 foreign nationals were arrested in 18 drug related cases that were registered since 2010. “We have decided to intensify vigil on guesthouses and farmhouses where the rave parties usually occur,” the Commissioner said.
He said a decision was also taken to keep a constant vigil on foreign nationals with the help of Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) which maintains the list of those coming from abroad. “We are also requesting the Osmania University and other private colleges to give the list of foreign nationals to monitor their movements,” he explained.
