The Raj Gond Adivasis of the formerly undivided Adilabad district on Monday celebrated the Pen da Dasra or the Dasara festival of gods which involved offering the first harvested indigenous crops. The offerings are made to goddess Jangubai whose cave temple is located in a far corner in Kota Parandoli gram panchayat of Kerameri mandal in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. It is customary for these Adivasis to take the blessings of goddess Jangubai or other gods like Persa Pen or Bada Dev before sowing seeds for kharif season and celebrate Pen da Dasra as thanksgiving. A few thousand of Raj Gonds even from neighboruring Chandrapur district in Maharashtra also participated.
