Rains disrupt life in Khammam

Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds battered several parts in both Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Khammam districts on Tuesday night.

A tribal farmer was killed after being struck by lightning at Jagannadhapuram village in Mulakalapalli mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district late on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Soyam Balakrishna, 30, of Jagannadhapuram. He suffered serious burns in the lightning strike and succumbed while being shifted to a hospital.

In Khammam district, heavy downpour accompanied by strong gales lashed Khammam town on Tuesday night and high winds uprooted trees. The sudden spell of unseasonal rain has caused water-logging in several low-lying areas and disrupted electricity supply in the town. High velocity winds uprooted trees and some power cables. at couple of places in Khammam rural and Raghunadhapalem mandals.
