Heavy rains which lashed the city on Monday afternoon wreaked havoc again as several roads were inundated, forcing people to wade through knee-deep water. The city received a total of 32.6 mm rain on Monday and Met officials have predicted more rains till Wednesday due to the depression prevailing over the State.
The road between NDMC and Mehdipatnam was washed away at several places leading to protracted traffic jams that extended up to Banjara Hills Road No.1, Tolichowki and Lakdikapul.
The stretch between Masab Tank and Lakdikapul too was washed away leading to severe traffic snarls, police officials said. “The condition of these stretches was already bad and earlier we could manage traffic by filling the potholes with loose soil daily. Because of the heavy rain, the potholes resurfaced, causing traffic jams,” a police official said.
Waterlogging was also reported in areas such as Mehdipatnam, Vijaynagar Colony, Tolichowki and M.J. Market, among other places.
