A rail-cum-road package jointly operated by the Telangana State Tourism Department Corporation (TSTDC) and Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. was launched here on Saturday. The package would include educational tours for educational institutions from Adilabad to Hyderabad and back.
The main aim of conducting such tours is to inculcate the knowledge of heritage, culture and history of Telangana, Peravaram Ramulu, chairman of the corporation said. The inauguration took place at the awards ceremony of food festival conducted by TSTDC from June 2 to 5.
The function also saw the inauguration of rope bridges over Laknavaram lake, Warangal. The rope bridges would allow tourists to walk over the lake to islands inside it. The lake is spread over a saucer-like land extending to about 10,000 acres. This beautiful lake is about 65 km from the Warangal district headquarters. The TSTDC has already developed tourist facilities including seven rooms, restaurant and wooden cottages and gazebos.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Minister for Tourism Azmeera Chandulal said after State formation tourism had improved manifold. The function also saw the inauguration of boating at Nagarjunasagar.
The cruise would be operated from Nagarjunasagar hill colony to Nagarjunakonda Museum. “Three floating jetties were constructed for the operation,” the Minister said. Mr. Ramulu said there were several places in Telangana which would be developed in the near future. “We are planning to revive Buddhist and Jain stupas,” he said.
Prizes were given under the following categories: best five star hotels, four star hotels, three start hotels and food courts. Awards were given even for hotels with the best ambience and creativity, best service, best chef and best restaurant category hotel.
The best five star hotel award was given to Marriot, Court Yard and in the four star category the award went to Daspalla. In the three start category it went to Minnerva Grand Secunderabad.
