Dalit scholar suicide: Rahul Gandhi ends fast

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who was on a one-day fast expressing solidarity with the agitation University of Hyderabad students, ended his fast on Saturday evening.

Dalit activist Kancha Ilaiah offered lime juice to Mr. Gandhi. After spending 17 hours, Mr. Gandhi left the campus at 5:45 pm.

Speaking at the protest site in UoH, Mr. Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS of crushing the spirit of young students of the country by imposing one idea.

Mr. Gandhi also suggested a law that can stop discrimination in universities.
