Punjagutta second best police station in India

The Punjagutta police station, which enjoys domain over colonies of the elitist class including the sprawling official residential bungalow of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, has been adjudged the second best police station in the country in a survey conducted by the Quality Council of India and Ministry of Home Affairs.

The police station, with around 2.5 lakh population under its jurisdiction, bagged the award for its speedy disposal of cases with the use of technology and providing smooth public services.

The trophy was presented by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the inaugural ceremony of the Annual Conference of the Director Generals of Police and Inspector Generals of Police at the BSF Academy at Tekanpur in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

S. Ravinder, Station House Officer, Punjagutta received the trophy in the presence of Telangana Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy and other senior police officials of the country.

Officials said that the Union government has adopted a uniform model of ranking police stations in the country and identified 10 best police stations. The basic objective of the survey is to improve quality of policing and make it citizen-friendly, the official said.
