A 23-year-old Warangal woman, seven months pregnant, died of swine flu at Gandhi Hospital late on Friday. The woman had been treated at a private hospital for five days before her admission to the government hospital.
The deceased, Bhavani Siripuram, was brought in an advanced stage of infection to a private hospital on city’s outskirts. Her condition warranted intensive care, including ventilator support. Her relatives said they could not continue to pay for treatment at a private facility.
“We had already spent about ₹4 lakh for her treatment. When we could not afford it any more and were not assured of recovery, we moved her to Gandhi Hospital,” a relative said
