Keeping in tune with the practice of the annual sojourn by the President in the south, Pranab Mukherjee will stay at the Rashtrapati Nilayam here for a week from December 26, and fulfil various commitments in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

According to a tentative programme communicated to the State government by the Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Mr. Mukherjee will arrive in Hyderabad by a special aircraft with his entourage at 3 p.m. on December 26 and drive to the Rashtrapathi Nilayam.

The next morning, he will fly to Tirupati to inaugurate the World Telugu Conference at which Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will be present. He is slated to felicitate eminent Telugu poets/writers, including Dr. C. Narayan Reddy and have darshan of Lord Venkateswara on Tirumala Hills before returning to the city the same day.

On December 28, the President will leave for Chennai and return to Hyderabad. He will undertake a two-day visit to Maharashtra on December 29 and 30 and spend December 31 in the city. Among his engagements in Hyderabad is P.V. Narasimha Rao memorial lecture at Jubilee Hall that morning.

The President’s sojourn will conclude on January 1, 2013, when he will fly back to New Delhi in the afternoon.
