Pot-holed roads, water-logged stretches send traffic into spin

September 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated November 01, 2016 08:20 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

It was the second consecutive day of massive traffic jams in the State capital, with the pot-holed roads and water-logged stretches making the journey on city roads a traumatic experience.

The day began with a clear sky and sunny morning, triggering hopes of a normal day. Traffic moved on most of the trunk routes smoothly for the first few hours, though it either slowed down or got stuck for a few minutes on severely damaged roads.

However, the downpour in the afternoon sent traffic into a spin, as some stretches turned into pools. Water logging was reported even on Greenlands fly-over. Breakdown of a few vehicle held up traffic for kilometres on routes like Secunderabad-Begumpet and Masab Tank-Lakdikapool.

The huge craters formed on the roads further added to the logjam. Though traffic policemen were on the roads and officials were issuing advisories on social media, traffic snarls were inevitable.

As water flowed over the Moosarambagh bridge, sending traffic haywire. Water logging at Mahbubnagar crossroads, DMRL, Moghal College, Owaisi Hospital, Fathimanagar, Bahadurpura, and Puranapool held up traffic on all connected roads.
