The election for verification of the membership of unions operating in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the exercise for identification of recognised trade union, through secret ballot will be held on October 5.
The schedule for the election was announced by Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner K.K.H.M. Syam Sundar, who is also the Returning Officer for the election, here on Monday. The cut-off date for preparation of draft voters list has been fixed for August 1, 2017, but the SCCL employees who are on the rolls of the company as on October 5, the date of polling, are only eligible to cast their vote.
According to the officials of SCCL, the decision on the election of recognised union was taken at a meeting conducted by Regional Labour Commissioner S. Raman with the representatives of 16 trade unions and the senior officials of coal company led by Director (Finance & Projects) J. Pavithran Kumar here on Monday.
As per the schedule, the company management would supply the voters list to the union on August 30, objections on the list could be filed to the Returning Officer by 5 pm on September 6 and the RO would take a decision on the objections on September 9.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations would be September 19 and the scrutiny of nomination papers would be taken up on the next day along with finalisation of symbols. Polling would be held from 7 am to 5 pm on October 5 and counting of votes would be taken up on the same day from 7 pm.
