Investigators are seeking the help of bicycle mechanics and sellers of old bicycles to identify the persons who carried out the two blasts at Dilsukhnagar using Improvised Explosive Devices.
Since the video footage secured by the police from a traffic surveillance camera and cloth store showed suspects using old bicycles, the police are trying to secure details of old bicycle sellers and mechanics.
'“Forensic analysis of the material available at the blast sites suggested that the terror operatives had used bicycles assembled with old spare parts,” the investigators said on Monday.
The police believe that the terror operatives must have approached the mechanics to make the bicycles using old spare parts. The National Investigation Agency officials investigating into the twin blasts case held a meeting with bicycle mechanics and sellers in Old City two days ago with the help of local police and sought their cooperation in identifying the persons who had planted the IEDs.
They had showed the video footage of the terror suspects captured by the traffic surveillance camera and images of the spare parts of bicycles to the gathering.
The local police said that persons failing to alert the police despite knowing about the old bicycles used in the blasts would be liable for penal action.
