The Greenfields Plot Owners Welfare Association welcomed the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe by Cantonment MLA P. Shankar Rao’s daughter Sushmita into the police behaviour while detaining the legislator and said the probe should also cover the alleged involvement of the legislator in the dispute.
At a press conference here on Monday, association president S. Chandrasekhar and former president S. Gyaneshwar charged that Mr. Rao had been trying to prevent regularisation of the colony by misrepresenting facts to the revenue authorities since 1990.
Rubbishing the claims of the MLA’s family that Mr. Rao was not involved in any land dispute, they said three letters written by the MLA not to regularise the plots purchased by 875 owners located in Kanajiguda in Alwal to the revenue officials was proof of his involvement and were available in government records.

Mr. Chandrasekhar presented copies of two of the three letters written by Mr. Rao in 2008 and 2009 to the Malkajgiri mandal tahsildar, through the Right to Information Act, urging the official not to take up regularisation of the plots as the matter was pending in the Supreme Court.
He further claimed that last year, Malkajgiri Tahsildar P. Narsimha Rao had informed the Ranga Reddy district Collector about encroachment of the said land by P. Dayanand, brother of the MLA and also prevented the revenue officials from taking up any demolitions.
