Stating that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (HMWSSB) shutdown of water supply on April 4 will cause inconvenience to the public, as it clashes with Hanuman Jayanti on that date and Easter Sunday on April 5, former Minister and legislator M. Shashidar Reddy requested the Water Board to postpone the shutdown of water supply by at least two days.
Eclipse
“The lunar eclipse occurs on April 4 as well, from 3.30 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. All temples will be closed during this period and opened only after thorough cleaning. As per Hindu traditions, homes are washed, people bath at the end and food is freshly prepared. Then preparations for Easter Sunday will begin on April 5, for which water cannot be stored in advance due to the shutdown,” said a press release from Mr. Reddy here on Wednesday.
Only a few to be affected
However, when contacted, a senior HMWSSB official stated that not everyone will be affected when the water supply is shutdown, as water is supplied at different days to localities.
“Only those areas which are to receive water on April 4 will be affected, and not other areas. There is no cause to worry,” he mentioned.
