Plea for NREGP wage payments

April 10, 2010 03:01 pm | Updated 03:01 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Andhra Pradesh Vyayasaya Karmika Sangham on Friday represented to the government to release NREGP wages without stopping them for the smart cards, which, it said, were yet to be distributed in many districts.

In a memorandum submitted to the Rural Development Commissioner, B. Venkat, general secretary, and two other leaders, suggested that in areas where the smart cards were yet to be given, the wages be paid through post offices as was done earlier.

They wanted all those persons seeking work be accommodated without waiting for the cards.
