The second day of the mega event saw an unfortunate incident in the form of the death of a 52-year-old Sevuga Perumal, who was said to be suffering from some disease and lived alone, away from his family at Leprosy Colony near Panagal in Nalgonda district. While the post-mortem report said that the death was due to a heart attack, people around the Chaya Someswara ghat said he was electrocuted.

It was said that after having his bath, he was standing on the steps of the ghat, perilously close to some live electric wires. Some people said he must have stepped on the wires unknowingly. After the post-mortem, the body was kept in the mortuary at a government hospital nearby and till late in the evening, it was said that no one came to claim the body.
