The Punjagutta police on Saturday arrested three members of a family who were allegedly involved in six thefts in RTC buses and at temples.

The accused Devalapally Mallesh (51), his wife D Nirmala (55) and 16-year-old grand-daughter used to pick pockets, snatch chains from RTC buses and busy temples. “The trio used to pick pockets and steal ornaments to arrange money to secure the bail of Mamatha alias Meharunnisa, Mallesh’s elder daughter. Mamatha was arrested by the police in March in a theft case and is lodged in Chanchalguda prison,” DCP (west) A. Venkateshwara Rao said.

The trio were allegedly involved in six cases in Punjagutta and S.R. Nagar police station areas in last six months.
