Pay more to enter zoo in a car

From July 1, entry to Nehru Zoological Park in a car would cost Rs.1,000. The hike from the present Rs.750 entry fee follows the recent decision of the Zoo Authority of Andhra Pradesh aimed at discouraging entry of private four-wheelers in the zoo.

The authority observed that large number of vehicles were entering the zoo particularly during Sundays and holidays and causing road blocks and putting other visitors to inconvenience apart from causing air and noise pollution.

Battery-operated vehicles

At the same time, the zoo management has also taken steps to operate 15 battery operated vehicles within the zoo to take visitors around and looks at adding a fleet of another 12 such vehicles in next few months.

A.K.Wahal, Director General, Forest Survey Of India, Dehradun visited Nehru Zoological Park on Tuesday and appreciated the efforts of the zoo at checking pollution by introducing battery operated vehicles and bicycles.

He also watched an orientation film on the zoo. in the bio-scope auditorium theatre and later went around the facility.
