A special ‘passport mela’ was held at the Passport Seva Kendra at Begumpet here on Saturday for officers of agriculture and horticulture departments as the State Government intends to send 1,250 of them to Israel for a ten-day training in modern agricultural techniques.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said only senior agriculture and horticulture officers were sent to Israel for training in the past. Therefore, it was felt that field-level officers involved in extension work should also be exposed to training in Israel. They would be sent in batches.

Passport Officer E. Vishnuvardhan Reddy said a mela like this was held for railway officials earlier. He promised a seamless delivery of passports to the officials as early as possible.

Agriculture Commissioner M. Jaganmohan Reddy and his counterpart of horticulture L. Venkatram Reddy also spoke.
