Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Tuesday arrested Banda Sudarshan Reddy, Deputy Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj department’s Moinabad division in Ranga Reddy district, on charge of amassing wealth illegally.
Simultaneous searches, led by ACB Inspector C. Laxmi, conducted at different places in Hyderabad and Mahbubnagar district revealed that he acquired properties worth ₹2.5 crore which were disproportionate to his known sources of income. “Market value of these assets would be much higher,” Ms. Laxmi said. One of the documents seized by the ACB authorities suggested that he paid ₹1.04 crore to purchase an open house plot admeasuring 270 square yards in Rocktown colony of L.B. Nagar. Gold jewellery weighing nearly half a kilo, ₹1.6 lakh and documents about his investments in insurance policies and bank balances were also found. He was also possessing two cars at his house in Osmanghad of Malakpet. In all, he acquired 20 immovable properties -two houses, agricultural lands at three places admeasuring nearly 10 acres and house plots-, the Inspector said. “Examination of documents suggests that he had earned most of the properties while executing works related to Rajeev Swagruha project at Nagole from year 2008 to 2013,” Ms. Laxmi said.
