A 35-year-old physically-challenged person was murdered by unidentified persons near Beerappa temple in Ramanthapur on Sunday.

The victim, D. Ramulu, a painter and resident of Ramanthapur, returned home after extending Dasara greetings to his sister residing in the same locality. A few minutes later, some persons came to his house on the pretext of discussing an issue and took him to Beerappa temple where they consumed liquor.

After Ramulu became unconscious, the assailants killed him by smashing his head with a boulder.

They had also attacked the victim on his private parts killing him on the spot, the police said.

Passers-by noticed the body and alerted police who rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Police said persons known to the victim could have killed him due to sexual jealousy.
