President Pranab Mukherjee to inaugurate festivities at 12.30 p.m.

The biggest celebration of Osmania University’s 100-year existence will kick off in the presence of President Pranab Mukherjee at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday.

University has made grand arrangements for the centenary celebrations where nearly 15,000 students, faculty, alumni, and officials are expected to participate. The main function will be held at the cricket grounds followed by some seminars and cultural programmes in different parts of the university.

Cultural programmes depicting Telangana agitation and its traditional dance forms will keep the invitees engaged till President Pranab Mukherjee arrives at 12.30 p.m.

There will be five speakers at the event apart from the President. Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajya Sabha MP and Celebrations Committee Chairman K. Kesava Rao and University Vice Chancellor S. Ramachandram will speak.

A member of the Nizam’s family, a special guest of the university, will also share his views. The entire programme is likely to be completed by 1.30 p.m. Only those with valid invitations and entry passes will be allowed to the venue.

Cultural programmes

Parking arrangements have been made across the campus.

The historic Arts College will be the venue for cultural programmes on all the three days and programmes have been designed based on the theme 100. Foreign students will also showcase the cultures of their respective countries.
