After a series of postponements, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch between Patancheru and Shamirpet has finally taken a shape and officials hope to open it for traffic later this month.
The 38 km stretch has been completed albeit with a small diversion at Kandlakoya and only a few minor works were left to be completed. The signage at some places and chain link fencing at some others were in finishing stages, said officials.
“In a way, the main carriage in all aspects will be ready in a week,” said an official. Meanwhile, another small two-lane diversion had been proposed on this stretch and legal opinion for this was sought. “This diversion falls in government land only and once the clearance is obtained, we can complete this also in a fortnight,” he added.
Since the land at Kandlakoya had been involved in court cases, the authorities have prepared the road with a three kilometre diversion bypassing the proposed junction. A temporary measure, this ramp has also been completed and once opened, would facilitate traffic heading towards for Medchal and also Nagpur. As of now, a total of 87 kms of the ORR between Pedda Amberpet and Patancheru has been made available for traffic.
