The Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested one person on charges of stealing money from ATM centres and recovered the entire stolen amount of Rs.85 lakh from his possession.

The accused, G. Chandrasekhar Reddy, who works as a custodian of ATM centres with SSM Services Private Limited, allegedly committed the theft of money from seven ATM centres in KPHB and Kukatpally police stations limits on October 23.

Misleads colleague

He opened the lock of the ATM cash machines by entering his password and that of his colleague, Rajeshwar, which he came to know after misleading him by telling that the ATM machines have developed a technical snag and need to immediately rectified, DCP Madhapur Kranti Rana Tata said.

The ATM machines have a digital lock and it can be opened only after two different passwords are keyed into it.

After withdrawing the cash, Chandrasekhar reportedly went into hiding. The police arrested him from Anantapur district along with the stolen amount.
