Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and IT K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday likened the Congress members in the Assembly (Congress Legislature Party) to the Pakistan cricket team in the past, which used to have, he said, one captain and 10 ex-captains in the team.
He made the interesting observation during the short discussion on the implementation of SC, ST Sub-Plans following CLP Deputy Leader M. Bhatti Vikramarka’s allegation that the House was not being run as per rules. The Minister said the member was casting aspersions on the Chair and demanded he withdraw his comments and stated: We know how you (Congress and Mr. Vikramarka as Deputy Speaker) ran the House in the past with adjournments all through.
Further, Mr. Rama Rao said the CLP’s situation was same like that of the Pakistan cricket team in the past as it had many former CLP and TPCC key functionaries and everybody was aware of the bickering going on. He added that the House would not run on individuals’ whims and fancies but run with rules.
However, the turn of taking the parting short went to CLP leader K. Jana Reddy when he shot back with wit and sarcasm asking the Minister as to who had told him that there was bickering in the CLP. “People will tell you after some time as to what’s there among you – in TRSLP,” he remarked.
Health portfolio jinx
During the discussion on demands for grants, Congress member Puvvada Ajay Kumar made an interesting observation about the political jinx linked to the health portfolio, first in the combined A.P. Cabinet and now in the Telangana Government.
He stated that Dr. D.L. Ravindra Reddy and Dr. T. Rajaiah were sacked unceremoniously in the two governments and Dr. C. Laxma Reddy was heading it now in Telangana.
However, the difference the two sacked health ministers had with the present minister was that they were allopathic doctors while the incumbent was a homeopathic doctor. There were smiles on the faces of Dr. Laxma Reddy and other TRS members when Mr. Ajay Kumar hoped: Dr. Laxma Reddy is soft spoken and is liked by all. I wish he break the jinx and complete the term.
