Nursing students fall sick after having takeaway food

April 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Three nursing students of Osmania Medical College (OMC) were taken ill and were admitted for food poisoning at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Monday for treatment. Apart from the three admitted nursing students, 10 others were treated at the hospital’s outpatient wing and later discharged.

According to health officials, the nursing students chose to skip their regular hostel meals and decided to order dinner from outside on Sunday. On Monday morning, around 10 to 15 nurses started having typical symptoms of food poisoning including vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea and headache. OGH doctors said that almost all of them, who consumed the non-vegetarian delicacy for dinner, had complained of the symptoms. At present, the three admitted nursing students are in stable condition, doctors added.
