Nedurumilli Padmanabha Reddy, an AICC member, has sought protection for his family and his educational institutions from his younger brother and former Chief Minister N. Janardhan Reddy.
Mr. Padmanabha Reddy accompanied by Union Minister Panabaka Lakshmi called on Chief Minister K. Rosaiah in his chambers in the Assembly on Tuesday.
He alleged that Dr. Janardhan Reddy whom he groomed as leader in his formative years was trying to take over the control of the NBKR educational institutions.
He alleged that Dr. Janardhan Reddy was trying to harm him ever since he rejected his request to work for the defeat of the Congress candidate from Gudur Assembly constituency P. Krishnaiah in the previous elections. “Being a dedicated Congress man for over five decades, how can I work for the defeat of the party candidate?” he asked.
Seeking appropriate protection from his brother, Mr. Padmanabha Reddy said he would sit on an indefinite fast in front of Dr. Janardhan Reddy's house if the latter did not change his attitude. He said he would shortly represent the matter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and seek her intervention.
