Nine persons from various parts of the city tested positive for swine flu. Out of the nine, two brothers from ECIL aged seven months and two years have tested positive. All the nine patients are admitted to private hospitals and are undergoing treatment.

Doctors pointed out that so far, all the swine flu patients in Hyderabad are responding to treatment, an indication that the virus itself is not virulent and does not pose a threat to a typical healthy patient. Many have already been discharged.

However, persons with co-morbid conditions like diabetes, heart, kidney and lung ailments need to be very careful. “Vaccination is always advisable for such high risk groups, including pregnant women, children below five years of age and elderly above 50 years. No need for healthy young persons to get themselves vaccinated,” doctors advised.
