‘Manam’ is special to the Akkineni family for more than one reason. Even as it was announced this Monday when thespian Nageswara Rao, son Nagarjuna and grandson Nagachaitanya posed for the cameras together in the first photo-shoot for it, there was an air of expectancy with movie-crazy fans hungry for details about the film.
“While three generations of our family coming together is indeed an exciting proposition, what is more important is that it has in the cast three young men who are passionate about acting in films. As Founder of the Annapurna International School of Film + Media (AISFM), I am eager to see how well the three students who were selected for important roles in the film will fare,” said Mr. Nagarjuna, who is producing it, here on Thursday.
The three youngsters – Kaushal, Srikar and Krishna come from different backgrounds and the common thread is their love for cinema. Kaushal is an engineering graduate, while Srikar did his law and even worked as a junior advocate. Krishna is a post-graduate in theatre arts from the University of Hyderabad. They were wondering how the entrée into the world of films would come for them and chose the AISFM to equip themselves with the skill sets required.
Asked more about the film directed by Vikram Kumar, of ‘Ishq’ fame, he simply said that it would be a complete comedy, a family entertainer aimed at bringing back to the theatre even people who have given up seeing new-age films for different reasons.
“It has heroines Samantha and Sriya essaying roles with music scored by Anup Reubens,” he said, adding reluctantly that two short schedules were done with and that the grandfather, father and son would be shooting together from October.
