Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has lavishly heaped facilities on his Kuppam constituency, which the residents would not have even dreamt of. He had bestowed a medical college, engineering college, purified drinking water, agro-industrial zone and Israeli irrigation technology in his previous regime 15 years ago, which were then unimaginable.
This time he rained high-tech goodies like airport, educational hub, Wi-Fi enabled campuses, skill development centre, 4G network etc., which are certainly ahead of what Kuppam is known for.
Addressing students of PES Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESIMSR) and Kuppam Engineering College (KEC) on Wednesday, he expressed the wish to see students taking academics beyond the classrooms and directed the managements to provide Wi-Fi on the campuses, which was received with loud cheers from the students.
However, the 4G network, scheduled to be inaugurated today, could not be done due to technical snag and would become a reality within a week.
Apart from a skill development centre in the KEC, Mr. Naidu inaugurated Rs.3-crore solar power facility at PESIMSR, which not only helps the institute become grid-independent, but also spend less on power and get back its investment in six years. Promising to turn Kuppam into an educational hub, he advised both the institutions to start offering higher courses.
PESIMSR Chairman M.R. Doreswamy announced institution of a gold medal in the name of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu to be presented to meritorious students, but the latter wanted it named as the Chief Minister’s medal.
Mr. Naidu’s promise to get halt for more trains at Kuppam station, located on the Chennai-Bengaluru high-density traffic section, came as a relief as most of the Bengaluru-based trainers and doctors commute daily by train.
He rained benefits on party cadre too. Narayana Heart Care offered health cards for the TDP workers of Kuppam. Mr. Naidu personally presented the cards to five active workers, including the party general secretary G. Srinivasulu, considered Mr. Naidu’s close confidant in Kuppam.
