The Government had earlier declared July 6 and 7 as holidays. The association founder president M.A. Farooq Ahmed and State vice-president A.A. Khan said Muslim religious scholars and Raviat Hilaal Committee expected the crescent of Shawwal month to appear on Wednesday evening.

Thus Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated in the State on Thursday, they said in a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Seeking a corresponding change in the holidays, they wanted the Government to issue an order to the effect while mentioning TSMESA’s letter.
